On Sunday, April 29th, 2018 at approximately 12:54 AM, the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a commercial building fire at 20658 Wilkins Ave. The Rock Hall Police Department arrived on the scene and assisted with evacuating the building which is now known as Wheelhouse Restaurant. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find smoke inside the building with fire and flames visible in an interior wall in the kitchen area. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes and approximately 25 firefighters from Rock Hall and Chestertown assisted. In addition, Rock Hall Police, Kent County Sheriff’s Office, and Kent EMS responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
