The Officers and Members of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company are actively gearing up and making preparations for a winter storm forecasted to impact our region from very early Sunday morning through Monday morning.
At this time, a WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for our area. However, please be advised that this may be upgraded to a WINTER STORM WARNING later today as information develops.
We encourage everyone to stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and to take necessary precautions in advance of the storm. The Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
Additional information on the storm:
Overnight model updates have resulted in a slight decrease in predicted snow totals; however, ice and sleet totals have increased.
The expected storm timeline is as follows:
light to moderate snow will begin around midnight Saturday into very early Sunday morning, intensifying to heavy snow by Sunday morning. The snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain Sunday afternoon, transitioning to a light mix before concluding with light snow Sunday night.
Despite the decrease in snow totals, the event is still expected to have significant impacts, with snowfall totals ranging 6-12 inches and additional effects from mixed precipitation.
Residents are advised to complete all preparations and winterize vehicles.
An additional update will be issued this evening following the next National Weather Service briefing.
After the storm passes, temperatures will drop to extremely hazardous levels, and residents should prepare accordingly. Stay safe.
