It is with deep regret and profound sadness that the Officers and Members of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, announce the passing of active member and Petty Officer First Class, Dakota Brown Collison.

Dakota joined the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company in 2014, his dedication and commitment were recognized in 2016 when he was awarded Firefighter of the Year. To him, being a Maryland firefighter was not just a role; it was a brotherhood he cherished dearly. He also served proudly with the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, always embodying the spirit of service.

As a proud member of the United States Navy, Dakota embodied honor, courage, and an unyielding sense of duty. His integrity was matched only by his compassion—always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. Dakota’s love, strength, and spirit will forever reside in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In remembrance of Dakota’s life and service, friends and family are invited to gather for a funeral service on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 1 PM. A visitation will take place two hours prior at 11 AM at the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company. Everyone is welcome to join to celebrate cherished memories with Dakota's family.

For fire companies wishing to bring apparatus to honor Dakota during this service, please reach out to Station 7 Chief Mike Pinder at 443-666-1409 or contact Kent.
